Makeda Declet is an actress and playwright who hails from the East New York section of Brooklyn, New York. She attended New York University where she received her BFA in theater, studying at The Experimental Theater Wing, ITW Amsterdam, and The Classical Studio. Acting credits include recurring roles on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (TBS) and Being Mary Jane (BET). As well as roles on How to Get Away with Murder (ABC), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX), and Switched at Birth (ABC Family). Stage credits include Sherelle in “Da Kink in My Hair”, Helena in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and Cricket in “Ti-Jean and His Brothers”.
Makeda also wrote and produced a web series called Just Makeda, a surrealist autobiography about life in which alter egos exist and manifest themselves as puppets (no puppets were harmed in the making of this film) and is currently workshopping her newest full-length play, “Sisters, Dem”, with hopes to mount a production later this year.
